Version: 1.1 Effective as of: May 4, 2026 Last updated: May 4, 2026

Convenience translation. This is a translation of the original Brazilian Portuguese version. In case of any divergence between versions, the Brazilian Portuguese version prevails.

1. About these Terms

Welcome to ilumniz ("ilumniz", "platform", "service", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ilumniz, a web platform focused on university studies and student-to-student interaction. By creating an account, accessing or using the service, you ("you" or "user") declare that you have read, understood and fully accepted these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of this instrument.

If you do not agree with any provision of these Terms, do not use ilumniz.

2. Who operates ilumniz

ilumniz is operated by an individual (natural person), hereinafter referred to simply as "ilumniz". All inquiries related to the service, support, privacy and exercise of rights must be directed to:

support@ilumniz.com

3. What ilumniz offers

ilumniz is a collaborative platform for university students, organized, in its current stage, into three main areas:

  • Classroom — tools to support individual study and academic organization, including notes, file management, tasks, calendar, subjects, materials and lessons.
  • Learning — assisted-learning features, including the ilumniz assistant for Q&A, quiz generation and study-note organization.
  • Networking — social and community features, including public profile, post feed, connections between users, lists and bookmarks, search, chat (direct and group messages), notifications and communities tied to higher-education institutions.

The availability, scope and limits of each feature may vary depending on the contracted plan, the service phase and verification of "active university student" status, as described below. Features may be added, modified, limited or removed at any time.

ilumniz is not an educational institution, does not issue certificates, does not replace academic or professional guidance, and does not guarantee academic results, approvals, grades or performance of any kind.

4. Beta phase — important notices

ilumniz is currently in closed beta. You expressly acknowledge and accept that:

  • The service may experience failures, instabilities, unavailability and unexpected behaviors, at any time and without prior notice.
  • Features may be added, modified, limited, suspended or removed at any time.
  • Inputted data may be lost, altered, migrated or deleted as a result of updates, maintenance, fixes, infrastructure migrations or component discontinuation.
  • There is no availability commitment (SLA), support response time or historical data preservation during beta.
  • ilumniz may be terminated, in whole or in part, including permanently, without compensation.

You are solely responsible for keeping your own copies of important content outside the platform.

5. Eligibility and registration

To create an account and use ilumniz, you must be at least 18 (eighteen) years old and have full legal capacity under applicable law. By registering, you declare that you meet this requirement.

Some features may be restricted to active university students, with such status verified through the submission or validation of an institutional email issued by a higher-education institution. ilumniz may, at its discretion, request additional verifications, revoke access to specific features (including access to university communities) if such status is not confirmed or ceases to exist, and adjust eligibility criteria at any time.

6. Account and security

You are responsible for:

  • Providing truthful, current and complete information during registration and keeping it up to date.
  • Keeping your access credentials (including password) confidential and maintaining control over any third-party login methods linked to your account (for example, Google).
  • All activities performed under your account, except for cases of misuse demonstrably outside your responsibility.

Authentication may take place via email and password and/or third-party identity providers (for example, Google, via OAuth). By using federated login, you accept the terms and privacy policy of the respective provider, in addition to these Terms.

Immediately notify ilumniz, via support@ilumniz.com, of any suspicion of unauthorized use, credential compromise or security breach.

7. Your content

"User Content" means any information, data, text, file, image, video, audio, note, task, calendar event, feed publication (post, poll, comment, repost), chat message, attachment, reaction, tag (hashtag, @mention), bookmark folder, list, profile setting or other material that you submit, create, upload, store, publish or transmit through ilumniz.

7.1. Ownership. You retain ownership of your User Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers the intellectual property of such content to ilumniz.

7.2. License to operate the service. So that ilumniz can effectively provide the service to you and to the other people you choose to display your User Content to, you grant ilumniz a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable (only to vendors strictly necessary for operation) and revocable license to host, store, copy, transmit, display, distribute to other users in accordance with the audience you set, process, index, technically adapt and back up the User Content, solely to: (i) operate, maintain, protect and improve the service; (ii) execute features you actively request or configure (for example, publish a post, send a message, set a public profile); (iii) comply with legal obligations.

This license terminates when the respective content is deleted from the platform, except for: technical backup copies; copies retained by other users who have legitimately viewed, reposted, quoted or received the content; data necessary to comply with legal obligations; and information already anonymized.

7.3. Responsibility for content. You declare and warrant that you have all necessary rights over the User Content and that its use on ilumniz does not violate third-party rights, applicable law or these Terms. ilumniz does not endorse, does not pre-screen and is not responsible for content posted by users, including publications, messages, comments, lists, profiles, attachments and any materials posted by other users.

7.4. Third-party study materials. You are solely responsible for respecting copyright and other intellectual-property rights related to books, handouts, articles, exams, recordings and any materials uploaded to the platform, including when published in social areas.

7.5. Third-party image and data. When publishing content involving the photo, name, voice, personal data or other identifiable information of third parties (in posts, comments, messages, profile or attachments), you declare that you hold adequate consent to do so and assume full responsibility for the use of that information.

8. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

When using ilumniz, you agree not to:

  • Violate applicable laws, third-party rights or these Terms.
  • Submit, store, publish or transmit illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, discriminatory, racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, hateful or violent content, or sexually explicit material involving minors, or content that promotes unlawful acts.
  • Share copyright-protected materials without authorization.
  • Engage in harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation or bullying against any person, on or off the platform, including through posts, comments, direct messages or communities.
  • Engage in doxxing or disclose third-party personal data without authorization (address, phone, ID, precise location, sensitive data).
  • Share non-consensual intimate content, nudity or sexual material of third parties (including, without limitation, "revenge porn" or AI-generated material with unauthorized likeness).
  • Send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, chain letters, unauthorized advertising, pyramid schemes, scams or phishing.
  • Use bots, automation, fake accounts or multiple accounts to artificially inflate engagement (likes, followers, reposts, views, comments, poll votes) or to circumvent limits and restrictions.
  • Falsify identity, impersonate another real person, educational institution, professor, authority or brand, or create profiles that mislead about institutional affiliation.
  • Attempt to access areas, accounts, systems, conversations or data you are not entitled to access.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, mass-scrape, automatically extract or harvest profiles, posts or connections, run scans, perform intrusion testing, or otherwise attempt to bypass security measures, usage limits or access controls.
  • Interfere with the normal operation of the service, overload the infrastructure, distribute malware or introduce malicious code.
  • Use ilumniz to create a competing product or service, or to train third-party AI models based on the service, the feed, messages, profiles or any data extracted from it.
  • Engage in academic fraud forbidden by your institution; you must observe your institution's rules.
  • Pretend to have an active link with a higher-education institution to which you do not belong, in order to access restricted communities.

ilumniz may, at its discretion, investigate suspected violations, remove content, limit the reach of publications, suspend or terminate accounts, restrict community access, without prejudice to other applicable legal measures.

9. Public content and social interactions

ilumniz offers social features in which User Content may be displayed to other people. You expressly acknowledge and accept that:

9.1. Audience of publications. Each feed publication may have its audience configured by you (for example, "everyone", "followers only" or "only me"). ilumniz will use reasonable efforts to honor that setting, but cannot prevent people authorized to see the content from capturing, copying, quoting, reposting, commenting, screenshotting or sharing it outside the platform.

9.2. Public profile by default. Unless otherwise indicated in settings, your profile is public within the platform: display name, username, photo, cover photo, biography, university affiliation, course, profile-card visual customizations, follower counters and public activity (posts, lists and folders marked as public) may be viewed by other users and appear in search, contact suggestions, trending hashtags and community feeds.

9.3. Connections. The "follower / following" relationship is a public metadata within the platform and may be viewed by other users. Connection requests and their acceptance/rejection may generate notifications for the parties involved.

9.4. @Mentions and hashtags. Mentioning another user (@) or using a hashtag (#) in a publication generates a notification to the mentioned user and associates the content with a public hashtag page, to the extent of the publication's audience.

9.5. Lists, bookmarks and folders. Lists and bookmark folders may be created as public or private. When public, they may be followed, viewed, shared and quoted by other users. Folders with collaborators expose the added bookmarks to the collaborators.

9.6. Persistence of copies. After you delete content, third parties may retain legitimately obtained copies (quotes, reposts, screenshots, received messages), and ilumniz does not control or take responsibility for such copies.

9.7. Indexing. Public content may be indexed by ilumniz's internal search and shown in suggestions and discovery. ilumniz currently does not allow indexing of authenticated areas by external search engines, but may change this policy.

10. User-to-user communications (chat and messages)

ilumniz offers direct messages (1-1) and group rooms, with text, attachments, reactions, message pinning and read receipts. You acknowledge and accept that:

10.1. Confidentiality and encryption. Messages are protected in transit by encryption (TLS) and stored at rest by the database provider's infrastructure (Supabase). Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. In exceptional situations — such as judicial order, legitimate administrative request, defense in proceedings, security-incident investigation or investigation of breach of these Terms — ilumniz may access, preserve and/or disclose message content, in accordance with applicable law.

10.2. Attachments. Attachments sent in messages (images, videos, PDFs, notes, documents) are stored in ilumniz's storage infrastructure and follow the same rules of these Terms.

10.3. Copies among participants. Messages, reactions, attachments and files sent to other participants remain visible to those participants, even if you delete your copy, leave the room or terminate your account. Read receipts, typing status and reactions may be visible to other members of the conversation.

10.4. Group rooms. In group rooms, all members can see the room's message history (from the moment they joined, according to the room's rules), the participants, reactions and attachments.

10.5. Conduct. All prohibited conduct set out in section 8 applies to messages. Messages may be reported and analyzed by ilumniz for purposes of reactive moderation, security and legal compliance.

11. University communities

Communities are groupings tied to higher-education institutions. You acknowledge and accept that:

11.1. Access. Access to a community may be conditioned to the verification of an active institutional email of the respective institution.

11.2. Loss of affiliation. If you cease to meet the "active university student" requirement (graduation, transfer, withdrawal, expiration of institutional email, among others), ilumniz may remove your access to the community, as well as content whose audience is restricted to the community, without prejudice to other revocation mechanisms.

11.3. Moderation. ilumniz performs reactive moderation: content posted in communities is not pre-screened. Upon report, or sua sponte, ilumniz may remove publications, restrict reach, suspend members and adopt additional measures when it deems that there has been a breach of these Terms or of specific rules eventually published.

11.4. No institutional affiliation. The existence of a community linked to an institution does not mean that ilumniz is an official partner, provider or representative of that institution, unless expressly stated otherwise.

12. ilumniz's intellectual property

The service, including the "ilumniz" brand, the name, logos, visual identity, software, source code, interfaces, texts, layout, structural databases, features and other elements, is and shall remain owned by ilumniz or its licensors, and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

These Terms grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to access and use ilumniz as set forth herein. No other rights are granted, expressly or implicitly.

Any feedback, suggestion or comment voluntarily submitted about the service may be used by ilumniz without restriction and without obligation of compensation.

13. Payments, plans and subscriptions

ilumniz, in its current phase, does not charge for the use of the service. ilumniz may, at any time, adopt a freemium model or introduce paid features by subscription, with values and details to be disclosed at the time of contracting. Creating an account today does not grant any lifetime or free right to any future features.

13.1. Plan and price changes. ilumniz may modify, create, discontinue or restructure plans, features, limits and prices at any time, with reasonable notice when applicable. There is no guarantee that the service, or part of it, will remain free.

13.2. Payment processing. When charging applies, payments will be processed by a specialized third party (for example, Stripe or another processor), subject to the respective provider's terms and privacy policy. ilumniz will not store complete card data; such data will be handled by the processor.

13.3. Renewal and cancellation. Where applicable, paid subscriptions may be automatically renewed in accordance with the conditions displayed at the time of contracting. You may cancel renewal at any time, retaining access until the end of the cycle already paid, unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase.

13.4. Refunds. Refund requests, when there is a charge, will be assessed in accordance with applicable consumer law, including the right of withdrawal in distance contracts when applicable, in addition to specific conditions eventually disclosed by ilumniz.

13.5. Taxes. Where applicable, prices may be subject to taxes under applicable law.

14. Communications

By using ilumniz, you agree to receive operational communications necessary for the operation of the service (for example: registration confirmations, security notifications, notices about updates to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, essential service changes, notifications of social interactions such as mentions, comments, new followers and messages), via email, push or within the platform itself, according to your notification settings.

Marketing communications (news, promotions, tips, surveys) will only be sent with opt-in (prior consent) and may be unsubscribed at any time, without prejudice to receiving operational communications.

15. Changes to the service and to vendors

ilumniz is in continuous evolution. You expressly acknowledge and agree that ilumniz may, at any time and at its sole discretion:

  • Modify, replace or discontinue software, APIs, libraries, databases, infrastructure providers, hosting, authentication, analytics, payment processing, artificial intelligence, vectorization, messaging, email delivery and any other vendors or sub-processors used to operate the service.
  • Migrate data between environments, regions, vendors and technical operators, observing the original purpose of the processing and applicable legal obligations.
  • Change features, system requirements, data formats, routes, usage flows and integrations.

Service continuity is an objective of ilumniz, but is not guaranteed, especially during beta. The list of currently used vendors and sub-processors is presented, for reference, in the Privacy Policy, and may be updated periodically.

16. Suspension and termination

16.1. By ilumniz. ilumniz may suspend or terminate your access, in whole or in part, with or without notice, when, in its reasonable discretion, it deems that: (i) there has been a breach of these Terms or applicable law; (ii) there is risk to the security, integrity, reputation or viability of the service; (iii) there has been abusive use, including in social features; (iv) it is required by legal or judicial determination; or (v) the service, or part of it, is being discontinued.

16.2. By the user. You may terminate your account at any time, through the mechanisms available on the platform or by contacting support@ilumniz.com.

16.3. Effects. After termination, access to the service will cease and the associated data may be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to any legal retention obligations and the persistence of legitimate copies held by other users (messages already received, posts already viewed or reposted, etc.). Provisions that, by their nature, must survive termination (such as intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnity, applicable law and jurisdiction) remain in force.

17. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ilumniz is provided "as is" and "as available", without express or implied warranties of any kind, including, but not limited to, warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, currency, error-free operation, uninterrupted service, absolute security or compatibility with specific systems.

ilumniz does not warrant that the service will meet particular expectations, that it will be free of failures, nor that any content will be preserved without changes, losses or unavailability, especially during the beta phase.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ilumniz shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect losses, lost profits, lost opportunity, loss of data, moral damages arising from interruptions, failures, unavailability, migrations or changes to the service.
  • Academic, professional or personal results of the user.
  • Content, conduct, omissions or acts of third parties, including other users (in posts, comments, messages, profiles, lists and communities), identity providers, payment processors and infrastructure vendors.
  • Force-majeure events, fortuitous events or circumstances beyond ilumniz's reasonable control.

No provision of these Terms removes rights that, by law, cannot be limited, especially in consumer relations.

19. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold ilumniz harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (i) your misuse of the service; (ii) breach of these Terms; (iii) violation of third-party rights, including intellectual property, image, honor and privacy; or (iv) content you have posted on the platform, including in social areas.

20. Changes to these Terms

ilumniz may update these Terms at any time, to reflect legal, operational, vendor, feature or commercial-model changes. The current version will always be published on the site, with the corresponding "last updated" date.

Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means (for example, in-platform notice or email). Continued use of the service after the publication of a new version means your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must cease use and terminate your account.

21. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The courts of the District of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul are elected for any disputes arising from these Terms, with express waiver of any other, however privileged, except for the consumer's right to file suit at their own domicile when applicable.

22. General provisions

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any specific notices displayed in particular features, constitute the entire agreement between you and ilumniz.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without prior consent. ilumniz may assign them to successors, acquirers or affiliates, upon notice.
  • Waiver and severability. Tolerance of a breach of any clause does not imply waiver. If any provision is deemed invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force.
  • Prevailing language. In case of divergence between translations of these Terms, the Brazilian Portuguese version prevails.
  • Contact. Any notice or question related to these Terms must be sent to support@ilumniz.com.
